The opportunities the Jersey Unique Minds Paranormal Society has had over the years, especially this year, have been incredible. Visiting historic Gettysburg, PA to investigate two of the most haunted locations in the country, spending the night in a recently closed jail, and investigating an entire village are just some of the great places we have visited. While they were great, we returned back to the reason why we all have gotten into the ghost research field on a Wednesday night in June. That was to answer a call from a terrified mother who was experiencing intense activity in her home that was not only affecting her but also her baby daughter.

I received the call from JUMPS Photographer Tiffany Hoffman which involved a video of a little girl pulling on her eye. In addition, she explained that this girl would not sleep in her own room and her mother was witnessing things with her own eyes during the day and in the middle of the night. Without hesitation I pass this information to Team Manager Bonnie Stevens so she can reach out to this mother and schedule an immediate investigation. That same day, Bonnie responded back to me to explain that the client was so terrified of the activity that she began to cry while on the phone. It was at that moment that we scheduled an investigation a week later to find answers for this mother and help her no longer live in fear in her own home.

• In the middle of the night, the client has felt someone sit down beside her while in bed. In addition, she has felt someone touching her.
• In the baby’s bedroom, she witnessed the crib shake then a ball of light and “heat-ripple” effect move from the crib, move across her, and into the closet. This occurred at 3AM.
• The client reports hearing sounds and voices coming from the attic.
• One night while watching television in the living room, she witnessed another “heat-ripple” effect appear in front of the television.
• The client reports hearing a child voice say “Mommy” on occasion.
• Again, while sleeping in bed one night, she woke up to a ball of light at the foot of her bed, it appeared to move under the covers, then she watched the covers move as if someone was underneath them moving closer to her and the baby.
  • The client’s friend told her there was something in the baby’s closet and the attic but it is unknown if the friend has any psychic ability.

    The JUMPS Team for this investigation consisted of myself - Doug Hogate Jr, Director BJ Hoffman, Team Manager Bonnie Stevens, Reporter Kelly Roncace, and Investigator Tim McGuire. We arrived at the residence at 9:00 PM. When we arrived we met with the client, who immediately began giving us a tour of her home and where the activity has happened.

    After hearing the reports of activity and understanding the severity of how these events were affecting the client, the JUMPS Team wasted no time and began setting up the equipment throughout the house.

    The night vision IR cameras were positioned in the following areas:

• Camera 1: In the living room facing the television and door into the kitchen.
• Camera 2: In the attic facing from the front of the house to the back.
• Camera 3: In the attic facing from the back of the house to the front.
• Camera 4: In the baby’s bedroom facing the crib and part of the closet.

    Once set up was complete, the team met at base where they were teamed together and sent out for the first sweep at approximately 10:30 PM.

    The first sweep of the investigation was the most critical as we were unsure if the client’s feelings that there was a demonic presence in her home were just that. Therefore, the team of BJ and Tim began in the attic while Kelly, the client, and I began in the baby’s bedroom.

    BJ and Tim ascended the steps to the attic. Right away, the two investigators began doing a thorough EMF sweep of the entire area to see if any exposed wiring or electrical breakers are giving off high electromagnetic fields that may be affecting the rooms below. This is to determine if the activity experienced could be caused by exposure which could make someone believe they are having an experience when in reality they are having symptoms of high electromagnetic field exposure; hallucinations, fatigue, and so on. As BJ begins checking the perimeter of the attic, he notices one area where the Mel Meter starts giving off an unusually high reading. In this area, he finds several exposed knob and tube wirings located in the area right above the living room and baby’s bedroom. As the two continue the perimeter EMF sweep, they notice several areas around the attic with the same thing. They discuss that they need to investigate the EMF readings on the floors below them to see if the exposed wiring is giving off high readings there as well. They believe it is a strong possibility that this is what is affecting the client, however, it could also be ‘feeding’ any spirit presence which could be why the reports of activity are strong. After a brief conversation, they began conducting an EVP session to see if they could get some answers.

    BJ begins the EVP session by introducing himself and Tim and explains the devices that they have placed throughout the attic and how the spirits can use them to communicate. Tim then explains the audio recorder and how the spirit or spirits can talk and even though they may not be able to hear them at that moment, they can listen to it later and hear what they said. Once the introductions were finished, BJ began by asking any spirit that may be present if the house they were in belonged to them and if they died there. While both investigators were monitoring the K2 meters and Mel Meter they had positioned during their session for any possible responses, BJ continued by asking if they had anything to say about changes that may have taken place in the house over the years. With no obvious responses, BJ continued by asking why and by whom the client’s child was being harassed. He went on to ask if the child possibly reminds them of another child. Again, no responses. They continue asking personal questions trying to determine who may be present and seeing if one of their questions might trigger some sort of response but after several minutes they received no responses. Frustrated, because they felt that a spirit may be harassing the client and her baby but would not respond to them, BJ began telling the spirit to do something to make themselves known; pushing him, touching him, pinching him, or throwing an object. Like before, there were no reactions. Tim then explains that the lady who lives in the house is scared and states that if it is not the spirit there making the girl scared then he wants to know who is and why they are there. BJ adds to that statement that the client is so upset that she has cried about the activity and asks if that is their intentions. Suddenly, Tim felt a pinch on his right leg. Immediately after, the Mel Meter began to beep like never before and then shut off. BJ immediately radios to Bonnie, who is monitoring the cameras at base, to make a note that the Mel Meter shut off unexpectedly after Tim felt a pinch on his leg. Bonnie then responded that the pinch on Tim’s leg is most likely a bug because she sees a bug flying around them from the IR lights of the cameras. After determining the pinch experience was most likely a bug, they power the Mel Meter back on and move to the opposite side of the attic. There they continue the EVP session and focus on the possibility of a soldier that may be present; which JUMPS Psychic Medium Consultant Rhonda Berry advised that she picked up as one of the spirits there. BJ and Tim both continue on with the EVP session inviting the spirit or spirits to use their energy to communicate and also to share any message they may have for the client or anyone else while assuring them that they will pass on these messages. Then, Bonnie radios to the two that she hears movement above her as if someone was walking around and asked if they were moving. She also added that she could see on the camera that they were not moving but wanted to confirm. BJ stated that they were on the opposite side of the attic which was not above her and that they were not moving at all nor did they hear anything like that. They moved slowly back to the area to investigate but were unable to find any explanation as to what could be causing the sound of footsteps. They remained in the attic for over an hour and did not have any experiences or responses on the devices. I then radioed to them after my team’s sweep to return to base and prepare to switch areas.

    While BJ and Tim were investigating the attic, Kelly, the client, and I headed to the baby’s bedroom to find out what was causing so much activity that the baby refused to sleep in there and the client was too afraid to leave her in there alone. As we entered, I placed the REM pod inside the crib and positioned a K2 meter at the end of the crib. Since this was the main area where the baby has been, it was necessary to begin this way. Once everything was in place, Kelly and I began explaining to the client what was about to take place and that if she began to feel uncomfortable at all to tell us and we would get her out. I then began by introducing Kelly and myself then mentioned that they may already know the client. I also explained and demonstrated the K2 meter and REM Pod for the spirit or spirits so they knew what to do to communicate with us through them. We then placed the audio recorder on a dresser and began recording for our EVP session. I then began the EVP session by directing my questions to 2 family members that are directly tied to the client. The reason for this is because during a reading with Rhonda Berry, she explained that these 2 deceased family members were always around the client and they were the one’s causing the activity. I called them out by name and explained our purpose for being there. I then continued with asking if they were who the client felt at night while she was lying in bed. There were no responses. Kelly then added that they have no reason to be afraid of us being there as we are not there to cause them harm or get rid of them but simply to help the client find answers for herself and her daughter. The client suddenly stated that she felt like someone lightly pulled on her shirt from the front. I immediately gave her the K2 meter and explained to her to hold it out in front and watch the lights. I then asked for the spirit to pull on the client's shirt again. Immediately after, the three of us hear a click come from right outside the door. After a few seconds, Kelly determined that the click was actually caused by the air conditioner coming on. Therefore, we continued, the client then explained that she felt a tingling feeling settling around her as if someone was hugging her, which, she explains she feels often. While she was feeing this, she was still holding the K2 and the experience she was having did not trigger the device. I then invite that if a spirit has pulled on the client’s shirt to come over and do the same to me. In addition, Kelly let her hair down and invited the same spirit to come to her and pull on her hair. We spent the next several minutes trying to get another experience to occur and a response on one of the devices however nothing occurred. I then switched gears and began speaking to another family member of the client’s that Rhonda picked up on that was a male. I began referring to this man by his first name and I explained that I did research on him prior to the investigation and found some personal information about him. Therefore, I began asking him if he lived at 2 separate addresses to see if it would trigger a response. With no response, I then went even more personal and read the man’s social security number which I found in my research. Again, there was no response. Finally, I tried reaching out to one more man that could be the man that Rhonda picked up on and repeated the same techniques. There was no response. We then decided to remain silent for a few minutes to try to get a sense of the area. Suddenly, I began to feel a change in the area and felt it begin to become heavy. At the same time, before I mentioned the change, the client stated she felt a sudden cold spot in front of her and Kelly saw an unusual anomaly in the area behind me. I reacted immediately by asking for a response through the “Shave and a Haircut” knock on the wall. Therefore, I began the first part and asked the spirit to finish it. Unfortunately, there was no response. After spending an hour in the bedroom and having some questionable experiences, I gave any spirit one final chance to do or say anything before we moved to another area. Again, no response. We then left the bedroom and returned to base.

    For the second sweep, Bonnie and Kelly traded places and Bonnie joined the client and me in the attic. As we entered the attic which was completely dark, Bonnie and the client remained at the top of the steps while I moved over to one end of the attic where the Mel Meter sat on one of the rafters. Also positioned in the attic by BJ and Tim was a Ghost Meter EMF detector and a digital recorder. I added the REM Pod by positioning it in the area opposite of the Mel Meter and the client continued to hold the K2 meter. Once we were in position, I began the same way as I had in the bedroom. I introduced Bonnie and myself as well as reminded any spirit present who the client was. I asked for any spirit that may be present to begin by giving us a sign of their presence. There was no response. I then began referring to the same family members I mentioned during the first sweep in the baby’s bedroom. Unfortunately, there were no responses. As I continued my questions, I noticed that Bonnie and the client looked at one of the corners behind them. The client then stated that she heard some sort of movement come from that corner and Bonnie explained that she heard the same thing. I decided not to go to that corner in fear that I would scare aware a spirit if one was moving around. Instead, I requested that the spirit move something or make a noise to confirm that the sound Bonnie and the client was them. Nothing else was heard. The client suddenly stated that she was starting to feel the same tingling feeling around her as she had in the bedroom. As she was explaining this, the Ghost Meter alarm began to light directly behind her. As I told them it was flashing, they turned around and it remained flashing for approximately 20 seconds. This indicated that there was some sort of change in the electromagnetic energy in that area close to the client and Bonnie. I immediately explained to the spirit that they can see how they can make the lights flash on the meter and to do the same thing again. After several attempts, it did not happen again. I then move closer to the area where the original movement was heard to try to determine what might have been heard. I continue to ask questions and request numerous times for another response or sign as well as asking questions hoping to be receive responses on the audio recorder that is recording. After another hour in the attic, no other experiences occurred nor were there any reactions on the devices. I then position the Ghost Meter in view of the IR camera positioned in the attic and place the Mel Meter next to it with the REM Pod option on so that if the alarm sounds again with no one present the Mel Meter may detect a break in its self-made EMF to give more evidence that a spirit may be present. We then returned to base to prepare for the next sweep.

    While Bonnie, the client, and I were having some experiences in the attic, BJ and Tim were conducting an investigation in the baby’s bedroom. They also began the same way they had in the attic; they introduced themselves and explained that they were there to help the client find out who was there so she would not be afraid. BJ added that they can push him, punch him, or kick him if they feel that it is necessary but he was willing to take that in order to communicate. BJ continued by asking about the light that the client reported seeing in the past which moved from the crib to the closet and if that was a spirit checking on the baby to be sure she was safe. There was no response. Tim then asked if the spirit is related to anyone in the house and if so who it is. He also adds that if it is not a relative then if it was a past owner of the home. Again, no response. The two spend a great amount of time asking questions referring to the family members, the soldier, or anyone else that may be present and who and why they are there. They also attempted to ask for reasons for the harassment of the client and her daughter. Again, no responses were recorded. BJ then checked the area with the meter to see if their high readings in the attic were also present in the baby’s room. After a perimeter check, the two found that on the floor under the crib there was a high EMF but not as high as the attic. In addition, they also discovered a high EMF reading on the far side of the bedroom near the closet. They spent additional time asking some basic questions trying to trigger a response which included what year it is, what town they were in, what message they have, etc. Again, no responses. After an hour in the baby’s bedroom, the team returned to base.

    For the third sweep, I teamed Bonnie, Kelly, and the client up and sent them to the baby’s bedroom while BJ, Tim, and I remained at base to observe. For this sweep, I wanted to see if having all women in an area would trigger activity in case spirits may not want any of the guys present for some reason.

    When Bonnie, Kelly, and the client arrived in the bedroom, Bonnie immediately pulled out an old book that was found sitting in the middle of the living room floor when the client and her fiancé first began moving in after the landlord cleared the entire house out. Kelly positioned the REM Pod in the crib and the K2 meter in front of the client. All three then sat on the floor. Bonnie began the EVP session by asking one of the family members of the client’s if she was present to protect the client’s baby. Bonnie continued by explaining that they were not there to force them to leave but to simply help the client understand what it is she is experiencing. After a few minutes attempting to begin a conversation, Bonnie then opened the book which consisted of several Disney stories. She began skimming through the book and reading the titles asking if a spirit, possibly a child spirit, sees a story they want to hear then she will read it to them. The client then explains that she has developed a sudden headache. Immediately after, all three investigators notice a sudden temperature drop in the room. Then, all three suddenly hear the bedroom door vibrate as if someone was trying to enter.

    At this time, BJ, Tim, and I notice the investigators begin focusing on the door. I wait a few moments to see what is happening and then I heard and saw Kelly on the camera as she opened the door. I immediately responded and asked what was occurring and Kelly explained the movement as if someone was trying to enter. I attempted different types of movements and tests to be sure the sound wasn’t being caused by some sort of vibration or being caused by something natural, as well as listening for traffic but could not get the sound to happen again. Therefore, I returned to base and Kelly rejoined her team in the bedroom.

    Bonnie repositioned the REM Pod from the crib to the floor next to her as she begins attempting to choose a story from the book. Like before, she continues to read the titles of the stories. As soon as she continues, both Bonnie and Kelly almost simultaneously notice a lemon scent in the room. With a sweet scent being said to appear when one of the client’s family members come forward, this experience was interesting to them as they continued to use the book as a trigger item. Bonnie then decides to begin reading parts of Winnie the Pooh. She spends the next few minutes reading the story when Kelly and the client suddenly hear an unexplained high pitch sound coming from another area of the house. Then, almost immediately after, Kelly hears a breath close to her. They continue with the story hoping to begin communicating through the devices. After approximately 45 minutes, no other experiences occurred. Therefore, they grabbed the devices and returned to base.

    For the next sweep I wanted to take the opportunity to use BJ’s expertise of provoking to attempt to trigger any negative or malicious spirits and let them know that what they were doing to the client and her daughter was not acceptable. Therefore, BJ, the client, and I ascended back up the steps into the dark attic to do just that. When we arrived, BJ positioned himself in the center of the attic, the client stood near the top of the steps, and I stood in a back area of the attic. BJ wasted no time and began demanding the negative spirits to come forward and do what they could to scare us. He explained that they are not to continue to harass the client and her daughter and that they need to leave and not return. We spent approximately 30 minutes in the attic and between BJ and myself, we said and demanded in every way possible to provoke the negative spirit to make themselves known and told them to leave and not continue what they have been doing. During that time, no activity was experienced. Therefore, we returned to base to prepare for one final sweep.

    For the final sweep of the investigation, Kelly, the client, and I returned to the baby’s bedroom. This time, the client sat on the floor in between the crib and the changing table. Kelly and I then positioned two K2 meters, the REM Pod, Ghost Meter, and Mel Meter in front of the client. Then, I sat on the floor on the opposite side of the room and Kelly stood by the door. This time, I requested the two family members to come forward and approach the client and by doing so the meters would respond letting us know they were present. As I requested this, the client explained that the temperature on the Mel Meter dropped 1 degree however it was not enough of a significant drop in temperature to classify it as a spirit presence. I continue by explaining to the two spirits to approach the client and give her a hug and or sit with her. The client then explained that she noticed the red glow on the REM Pod appeared to be fading on the sides as if someone was putting their hands around it. I continued speaking to those two spirits asking them to use any energy they could to make the meters react. I assured them that we were not there to make them leave and only to communicate. We spent several minutes trying to get a response however nothing occurred. It wasn’t until we began talking about wrapping up the investigation that suddenly the K2 meter began to flash to its highest level. The client seemed to jump and explained that she felt a sudden drop in temperature. I asked her what the Mel Meter said and she stated it had dropped 4 degrees. I explained that if a spirit is causing the K2 meter to respond to back away but not to leave so they can make it respond again just to clarify that they are present. The K2 then stopped. I again asked for the spirit to make the K2 react again. Unfortunately, it did not alarm again. I made one final request that if any spirit is there to use any energy they could and give one more push to make the meters sound but unfortunately nothing occurred. After 45 minutes, we decide to grab the gear and return to base.

    After spending several hours overnight in the residence, we wrapped up the investigation leaving the client with some closure as to what we feel was occurring in the home based off of our investigation and that she had no worries about falling asleep from that point forward. I also assured her that once the evidence was reviewed, we would be back in touch with a final conclusion as to what she has been experiencing since she moved into the home.

• During the second sweep, BJ and Tim investigated the baby's bedroom. After spending an hour in the room, they grab their devices and return to base, leaving the digital audio recorder in the room recording. Minutes after they leave and all team members are at base, an EVP was captured of an elderly woman in the room.
