Elsinboro Farmhouse Investigation

Case Details

DATE: October 15, 2011

LOCATION: Elsinboro, NJ

The Jersey Unique Minds Paranormal Society was invited to this 282 year old farmhouse by the new homeowners as an opportunity to investigate claims and stories they have heard prior to owning the property. JUMPS also took this opportunity to use this location as a final investigation test for the new investigators in training.

Investigators

  • Doug Hogate Jr. – Lead Investigator
  • Maureen Crossman - Investigator
  • Bonnie Stevens – Investigator
  • Jennifer Hardwick - Investigator
  • Jonathan Rishel – Investigator
  • Jennifer Raymond – Investigator
  • Frank Maminski - Videographer

Reports of Activity

  • Salon - A child was not feeling well while visiting the house. The child rested in a tent that was set up in the room while his mother was visiting the homeowner. When the mother and client checked the child, they asked how he was feeling. The child stated that the “ghost nurse” was taking care of him so he was fine.

  • Some individuals who have visited the location reported the hair standing up on their arms, like an electrical charge.

Investigation Report

After a tour of the location, the team began setting up the investigation equipment. The home is being completely renovated so there were several obstacles to look out for. The team placed four night vision IR cameras throughout the building and placed audio recorders in areas of activity.

  • Camera 1 – Placed in the salon area.
  • Camera 2 – Placed in the living room area, which is located across the hall from the salon.
  • Camera 3 – Placed in the second floor, master bedroom
  • Camera 4 – Placed in a room in the attic where unusual bangs and noises have been heard

An audio recorder was placed in the salon area and the attic room as well.

The investigation began at 8:15 PM.

During the five hour investigation, there were a few personal experiences reported from investigators. Investigators Bonnie and Jennifer R. reported feeling the temperature drop in the living room while sitting at a table in the center of the room. At the same time, each investigator reported seeing a shadow move in the hallway, blocking out light in the salon. Shortly after this occurrence, Jennifer R. felt, as if someone placed their hand on her shoulder.

Another personal experience that occurred during this investigation happened in the attic while investigators Maureen, Jonathan, and Jennifer H. were sitting in the south end of the attic. After investigating the attic for approximately 40 minutes, a “snap” noise came from a room located at the other end of the attic. Unsure of what could cause this, the team documented the occurrence on the audio recorder and returned to base to share the incident so that it could be investigated further.

The investigation came to an end and the team packed up all the equipment. After reviewing 18 hours of audio and 20 hours of video, two EVPs, one video clip, three unexplained noises, and one personal experience were captured.

Conclusion

The claims of activity were very limited prior to investigating this location. During the investigation, the team had a few minor experiences that could not easily be explained. However, after reviewing the evidence, it is obvious that a female was recorded on two separate occasions in the salon room. These EVP’s suggest that the female is possibly annoyed with the fact that the JUMPS team was attempting to communicate with her and capture her on audio and film. Therefore, it is concluded that there is an intelligent female presence at the farmhouse and she does not want to be bothered by anyone. The homeowners were instructed how to clarify with the female that they do not mind that she is there as long as she stays to herself and does not do anything to frighten them or their child.

Respectfully Submitted,

Investigation Findings

Audio

  • After completing a sweep of the salon, investigators Jennifer H. and Jonathan were logging the time of their completion on the audio recorder. Right after investigator Jonathan reports the time being 10:40, a female voice was recording saying, “You’re getting it, huh."

  • EVP 1 - "You're getting it, huh"

  • While a team was in the salon and another in the living room, the audio recorder that was set in the salon picked up a female voice possibly saying, “I am leaving.”

  • EVP 2 - "I am leaving."

  • In a room that the team marked as no entry due to safety precautions, an audio recorder was placed to capture any possible evidence of activity. While all investigators were at base on the first floor, the recorder picked up unexplained bangs that occurred occasionally. These bangs are not said to be evidence of activity, however, it is an unexplained occurrence during the investigation.

  • RECORDING 1: Unexplained 'Bang' in Attic #1

  • RECORDING 2: Unexplained 'Bang' in Attic #2

  • The “snap” noise that was heard by investigators Maureen, Jennifer H, and Jonathan was captured at the same time they experienced it.

  • PERSONAL EXPERIENCE 1 - 'Snapping' heard

Video

  • Camera 1 captured an unexplained light that reflected off of the left window in the salon area. That side of the house is a field and no road runs next to the house, as it sits down a lane. No one was present in the room, outside the house, or in the area.

  • VIDEO 1 - Light anomaly across window
