Kelly Roncace, Tim McGuire, and I arrived at the home on a Thursday night at 9:00 PM. We were met by the client, her 10 year old daughter, and her 17 year old daughter. The three of them began explaining that since we scheduled the investigation, they have felt threatened by the male entity there and were told by him that he was going to hide in the corners and no do anything during the investigation. Her 17 year old daughter also explained that two days prior to that night that she heard his voice telling her to “be careful what you tell them.” They continued to explain that not only does the client have the gift of being a medium but her 17 year old also is developing the same gift only she can hear spirits. They continued sharing with us their background and the activity they experienced when suddenly the client stops, looks to her left, and yells, “don’t tell me to shut up.” Shocked at this, we immediately begin conducting a walk through of the house to learn where the activity has occurred. 

After the tour, the team began unpacking the equipment and wasted no time setting up the cameras throughout the house.

The night vision cameras were placed in the following areas:

• Camera 1: 17 Year Old's Bedroom – Facing her closet from the head of her bed
• Camera 2: 10 Year Old's Bedroom – Facing her bed from one corner of the bedroom
• Camera 3: 2nd Floor Hallway – Facing from the door of the youngest daughter's room toward the hallway
• Camera 4: The Client's Bedroom – Facing from the door to the bed

Once the night vision cameras were positioned throughout the house, base was set on the first floor dining room table, and the DVR was recording, we shut off all the lights off and began our investigation.

Since the activity centered on the client and her 17 year old, I invited the two of them to join us on the investigation. Therefore, for the first sweep, Tim, the client, her daughter, and I ascended the steps to the dark second floor when the family refused to do so in the late hours. Kelly remained at base to monitor the cameras.

The four of us began in the 17 year old's room. I placed the REM Pod and digital audio recorder on the floor in the center of the bedroom and Tim began doing a base reading of the room with the Mel Meter. Once the equipment was in place, I began like I begin every investigation. I introduced Tim and I and explained that the spirits may already know the client and her daughter. I then requested if the male entity who was harassing the family could come forward and give us a sign that he was there by making some sort of noise, getting close to the devices, or even touching me. A few seconds of silence go by and the daughter suddenly says that she was hearing the male spirit and he responded by saying, “No.” Then, the client explains to us that she also received the same response as well as something even more extreme which was, “F*** you!” I immediately responded as I would if I was speaking to anyone, living or deceased, and stated that he did not have to talk that way to me. After that statement, her daughter said that she felt the sudden urge to cry and the client said that she was quickly finding it harder to breath.

After checking to be sure the two were OK, Tim explained that a sudden increase in EMF (electromagnetic field) levels at the head of the client's daughter's bed. He searched around the head of the bed and noticed that the small fan that was on in the bedroom was on a table right next to the bed. I then asked her daughter how she slept at night other than seeing the shadow of the male spirit on occasion. She immediately began explaining that she recently began sleeping with her head on the other end of the bed because she has been unable to sleep at night. I then asked her if she slept better at night when she did that and she replied with, “Yes.” She also explained that she wakes up quite often in the mornings feeling terrible and having migraines. Tim then explained that the Mel Meter began with a reading of 28.9 and then rose from 52.0 to 70.0 without him moving. I wanted to test a theory with these readings and therefore I told Tim to keep the Mel Meter in the position he had it and I turned the fan OFF. At the same time the fan powered down, Tim reported that the Mel Meter’s reading went from 70.0 to 0.4 (a normal reading.) I then asked the daughter if the fan is always on while she sleeps at night and she replied that yes it was. I then turned the fan back ON, with Tim still in the same position, and the Mel Meter’s reading raised to a 74.0 to an 83.0. Immediately, I knew why she was having those symptoms every night when she slept.

I began to explain to the client and her daughter, that the electromagnetic field level at the head of her bed, as well as through the entire area of the bed, is dangerously high. I explained that the levels are high simply because the fan that is positioned on the small table is releasing those high EMFs and affecting her health tremendously. I proceeded to explain that symptoms of high EMF exposure are nausea, headaches, hallucinations, fatigue, and much more; exactly what the daughter was reporting to be happening every day or night. They both immediately were shocked. I explained that all she had to do was relocate the fan to a far side of the bedroom away from her bed. Just to be sure that would work, I positioned the fan in the suggested area and Tim checked the EMF Levels. Tim stated that all the levels read 0.1 to 0.5 after moving the fan and remained there. I placed the fan back in its original location and the daughter said she would relocate the fan and see how much better she sleeps. I also assured her that I did not disproof the activity she is experiencing however it should help her sleep better naturally.

After the experiment with the fan was over, I continued on with my EVP session attempting to draw out the male spirit everyone in the family fears. I ask the entity how he felt about myself, Tim, and Kelly being here attempting to communicate with him. Like a few minutes prior, the client's daughter said that she heard him say, “Go away.” The client added that she felt that he finds amusement in terrorizing her and her family but has a feeling that he does not have the courage to do something to Tim or me. With that information, I asked if Tim and I intimidated him and explained that I understand his situation and I wanted to help. I continued asking questions attempting to get information and learn who this entity is; why he was harassing the family, what he wanted from them, if he came to the house because he is attached to an object, and I even requested for him to make a noise because I could not hear what he was saying like the client and her daughter. At that exact moment after asking that question, I suddenly heard a rattling noise however it was very faint. To validate what I heard, the daughter stated that she heard the exact same thing.

After this experience, the client, who had been silent for a few minutes, stated that she has been listening and actually received a response herself from the entity in reference to a question I asked a few minutes prior. The question was if the entity was attached to an object. The client said that she picked up that he did in fact come with an object that was brought from her mother’s house after she passed away. That object was a dresser. Her daughter then explained that the dresser was located in a corner of a bedroom in her Grandmother’s house and she used to sleep right next to it. She also remembers that when she did lay down to go to sleep, she was afraid. With this information, we were one step closer as to what this entity wanted and why he was present.

I continued with the EVP session. I asked several different types of questions; was the entity messing with the family because he thought it was funny, if the entity wanted the family to take the dresser to another location, and even what he thought of Tim since he was very tall like the size the family reported the entity to be. After that question, the client's daughter said that she heard the entity actually respond with a sarcastic ‘huff.’ She then explained that she could feel someone close by to her. I immediately used the K2 and Mel Meter and checked the areas around her for any fluctuations in the electromagnetic field. There were no unusual readings. Beginning to feel frustrated, I explained to this entity that we already know he is there and asked why he was running and trying to avoid to communicate. She then explained that she felt someone shove her. I then demanded for him to come over to me and push me. Nothing happened.

Also located in the daughter's room was a chair. She began to explain that the chair there was also her Grandmother’s and was actually next to the dresser that the entity allegedly was attached to. Therefore, Tim placed the Mel Meter and K2 on the chair and I asked for the entity to get close to the chair to make the devices react. The reading on the Mel Meter was a 0.5 and I demanded he raise the number to a 1.0. Tim then explained that we were not there to make him mad but to find answers. The daughter responded by saying she feels that he was with us but refused to get close to the chair. I then walked over to the chair to see if it would cause him to be angry and asked why he would not touch me. After a few minutes of standing, nothing occurred. I then moved over to the bed and had a seat.

I continued to ask questions to the entity. I asked what year he was from as I pulled out a digital camera and began taking photos around the room. I asked where he was and took pictures in each spot I asked to see if something unusual would appear. Then, as suggested by Tim prior to the investigation starting, I gave the daughter the camera and instructed her to take photos in every area that she said she felt him. She agreed and took the camera and began snapping photos. I then demonstrated the REM Pod that was still positioned on the floor in the center of the room and requested for the entity to get close to it to make his presence known. As soon as I asked, the client suddenly left the room quickly.

When the client left, her daughter began having another experience. She said, “stop hitting me,” and told us that he was annoyed and angry that we were there. I immediately demanded him to keep his hands off of her and to hit me if he wants to get physical. Tim told the entity that a real man would not hit a girl which must mean he wasn’t a real man. She again said that he was angry and my only response to him was that he was the one hitting girls so why is he getting angry? That is when I decided to get personal and asked him how he would feel if the same things he was doing was happening to his wife, children, significant other, etc. There was no response.

With all of the different responses and activity the client and her daughter have been sharing, I wanted to reassure that I understood the situation; the activity of this entity did not begin until they brought the furniture from her Grandmother’s house to their home, and the furniture and dresser were actually located next to an area of the house where a portal was said to be. The daughter confirmed that the information was correct. Therefore, I asked the entity if he came through the supposed portal and then attached himself to the dresser. I also asked if he was stuck at their home. With no response, I requested for the entity to do something I ask on every location; that I will count to 3 and at 3 to shut a door, knock, move something, touch me, or anything to make his presence known. I then counted to 3. Nothing occurred.

The daughter then explained that she heard a distant talking but quickly determined it was the client and Kelly on the first floor. She then explained that hearing things from downstairs is something she frequently hears at night while in bed which is why she sleeps with music on. She explained that she will hear walking, cabinet doors opening and closing, and things moving throughout the entire night. I asked her what time the sounds typically start and she said between midnight and 4:30 AM.

At that point, the client rejoins us in the bedroom only this time holding a pad of paper. She immediately explains that for the duration of our session in her daughter's room, she was getting responses from the entity to the questions we were asking. I immediately told her I wanted to hear the responses. This is what she explained:

She picked up the number 64 and 18 when asked what hear the entity died therefore she guesses 1864. She explained that he wants to go home and that he came with the dresser which was located in their garage. However, the only way he knows to go home is through the portal which is located at her Mother’s house who passed away and someone else lives in the home. She added that the house is located in Beachwood, NJ in Toms River.

With this information, I began asking the entity questions pertaining to those details. I asked him that if all he wants to do is go home, why he feels the right to harass the family. I then proceeded to tell him that if he tells us why he is doing what he is doing, I will help him move on or go home. The daughter responded that he said he did not believe me, but I assured him to give me a chance to help. I told him that there was no reason for the negativity. I even attempted to make a deal with him that I will help him go home if he leaves the family alone. She explained that he was pacing and did not know whether or not to believe me and then said the area around her was beginning to feel cold. I checked the area with the Mel Meter and the temperature read 74 degrees which is in the average rage of the room. I asked him what his name was so I knew how to refer to him but there was no answer. Then, I asked if he had a family and she immediately responded that he lost his family. My response was asking what happened to them and she said he suddenly became less strong. After approximately a half an hour in the daughter's room, we decided to make our way to the hallway.

Just outside the client's daughter's door, we entered the hallway and I immediately went for the closet where the family refuses to enter. The client explained that there were objects inside the closet that also came from her mother’s house and she does not get a good feeling from the closet at all. I checked the closet using the Mel Meter and K2 and the closet read a slight elevated EMF reading inside. I asked if there was anything in the closet the entity was attached to. With no response, I exited the closet.

I positioned the REM Pod on the floor of the hallways and Tim monitored the Mel Meter. He reported that the reading was very low, much lower than the daughter's room. I begin by continuing with questions based off of the information we received from the client. Her daughter also explained as we entered the hallway that the entity once had a daughter who passed away. I asked what his daughter’s name was and she said he did not want to talk about it. I continued asking the following questions, hoping for a response;

“I want to know your story. If you share this story with me, I will be sure to keep your legacy going. How do you feel about that?”

“Where is your favorite place of the house?”

“What did you do to provide for your family in 1864?”

“Do the girls in the family remind you of your family?”

I received no responses from these questions. The client and her daughter then both explained that they feel his family was killed by a train and he blames himself. I considered the fact of maybe this spirit was not trying to scare the family and only trying to tell them something rather than harassing them. The only response from that was her daughter began to develop a pain in her neck which was indicating that his daughter may have passed away associated with something in her neck. Tim then asked what town this all occurred in so we can complete a research background to find additional information on who this spirit is. Tim also mentioned that 1864 was during the time of the Civil War and asked if he was part of a unit. The client told us that his only response to those questions is the portal because it is all he knows. Her daughter also added that every time someone mentions his daughters, she feels him place his hands to his head and yells No,” because it is very painful for him. The client then received information on a possible town; Maine. We continued some additional questions about the details to try to piece everything together.

The client's daughter suddenly feels her cross necklace around her neck move. Again, I check the area around her with the Mel Meter, but there were no unusual fluctuations. She then demands that the entity stops hurting her. I then checked her shoulders for any marks or scratches and the client checked around her entire back; No markings. Angry at this physical claim, the client becomes verbal to entity and demands him to stay away from her daughter. She then asked him why he only likes to talk to her and his response to her was, “you’re mine.” My instant reply was, “Sorry, but that’s not how it works.” I continued telling him that they were living their life, brought in the furniture, he came with it, and now holding them hostage; they did not come into his house, he came into theirs. The client then told me that he does not see it that way; they came into her mother’s house and they violated his space therefore they started it. I then asked this man if there was anything he was afraid of, and her daughter responded that he does not want to speak about it. My response was why does he get to choose what is discussed and what is not. There was no response. The client began to get frustrated and told him to “man up.” Her daughter then explained that she felt someone next to her holding her as a Father would hold his child if they were not acting appropriately. Therefore, I placed my hand on the daughter's shoulder and asked him how he felt about that. She said that he responded with, “She’s mine.” I then placed my hand on the client's shoulder to see what kind of reaction I would get and her daughter said he did not care because he did not like the client due to the fact that she was her mother.

After spending a few minutes in the hallway, I wanted to move into the 10 year old's room to find answers as to why she refused to sleep and even be in there at night. As we entered the bedroom, I explained that it was not right that a 10 year old girl had to worry about being in her room. Tim used the Mel Meter to do a base reading of the bedroom to find it was very low, as long as 0.0 in most areas. He noticed as he approached the bed that an alarm clock sitting on a table was reading high however it did not reach the area of the bed. He then sat down on the bed and monitored the Mel Meter as I continued asking about who and why they liked being in the bedroom. As I asked the questions, the client and her daughter said they did not feel him in the room with us. I then asked the client if her youngest daughter ever reported seeing or hearing anyone or if she only felt like the room has a presence and she said it was only a feeling.

I began to ask them a few questions regarding their personal life to compare it to the activity they were experiencing and the information they were receiving to try to piece everything together. After a few minutes, the client suddenly became uncomfortable and felt a sharp pain in her side as if someone was squeezing her rib cage. I again asked why he refused to touch and do the same things to me as he was doing to the client and her daughter. The daughter said it is because he was showing his dominance and did not like women. The client responded by telling him that he did not have to come with the items and her daughter told her all he said was, “my stuff.” She began to get angry again and said that it is her stuff and has been in her family for 2 generations. She added that the items actually was supposed to go to her niece however she had no room for it so she offered to keep it in her garage. Since then, her niece moved and never returned to retrieve the items. As the client explained this, she suddenly remembered another piece of information about the items she had; a foam mattress that the client's daughter used to sleep on at her mother’s house was on her bed and she has been using it. Her daughter responded that he smiled. I asked him if the dresser was moved to another location, would he move with it. The client began speaking about the house where the furniture came with and explained that she cannot take the furniture back there because it is owned by another gentleman. During that time, her daughter said that he continued to stand and smile.

Like I did in the other bedroom, I again offered to work something out with the entity other than relocating the furniture back to its original location. The daughter said that his response was, “it was mine, I want it back.” The client then mentions that the furniture is actually as old as her grandparents which puts it as the same age as the entity, late 1800s. I then asked if he knew their family at some point or had any ties with them. Tim added by asking if he was an uncle. The client said the answer was no. Her daughter then asked if he passed away by some sort of neck injury because her neck became stiff and uncomfortable. I interrupt and ask if he perhaps hung himself. The client and her daughter responded saying they believe he did because he felt guilty about what happened to his children and blames himself.

After gathering so much information from the client and her daughter throughout this entire sweep, I decided that we all return to base to take a break and send Kelly up with them. Therefore, I asked if it was OK if Kelly came up to talk, and the daughter says his response was, “Go ahead, and see what happens?” With that response becoming extremely frustrating, Tim and I explained that this was not a game and we were going to resolve the issues the family was facing. We then grabbed the equipment and made our way back downstairs to meet with Kelly who was monitoring base.

For the next sweep, Kelly and the client's daughter made their way to the second floor to attempt to communicate or draw up activity after learning that the entity harassing the family may not like females. Meanwhile, Tim and I remain at base to monitor their sweep on the night vision IR cameras.

Kelly and the daughter arrive in the youngest daughter's room. Kelly immediately introduces herself and begins criticizing the entity for what he is doing to the family. She continues to ask the same questions as we did on the previous sweep as the daughter explained what was said and occurred during the first sweep with information about the dresser. The daughter immediately told Kelly, after several minutes, that he was angry with her and did not like her there speaking to him. Suddenly, the two notice a flash of light come from the outside of the room. They both immediately exit the room to find the source of the light. They returned back to the first floor to find that the light was caused by me as I was investigating the living room and taking photos.

With the Kelly, Tim, the client, her daughter, and I being on the first floor, we decided to stop the sweep and go to the garage to see the dresser that the entity seems to be attached to.

Tim, Kelly, the client, her daughter, and I entered the garage to find the dressed placed along a wall with a mirror sitting on top. The client proceeded to tell us that there were many items placed inside including jewelry. Tim began inspecting the dresser to get a potential age on it. Meanwhile, the client and her daughter explained that they did not feel him in the garage with them.

During Tim’s inspection of the dresser, he pulled out one of the drawers. He explained that there used to be one handle on the drawers and they were made of TL joints which were common in carpentry decades ago. Tim continued to explain that the pieces were all hand-cut and you can tell because it was not perfect. He showed us that there were gaps in the dresser and the pieces were cut with a dovetail saw. He continued that the joints were used for furniture because they were strong and would not pull apart and very sturdy. The client explained that the spirit was attached to the dresser because it reminded him of a time when life was good for him when he was alive. Then, after further inspection, Tim realized that the dresser was not actually made in the late 1800s. He realized the wood used was plywood which made it more modern.

I decided that since the entity is so attached to the dresser, I brought in one of the drawers to bring on the second floor to use as a trigger object. Therefore, we returned to the house with one of the drawers to prepare for another sweep.

Once we returned inside the house, Kelly, the daughter, and I made our way back up to the second floor with the dresser drawer. We returned back into the youngest daughter's room. I placed the drawer in the middle of the room with the K2 meter and Mel Meter near it to detect any changes in the area around it. We then shut off the flashlights and suddenly all heard a distant sound as if an object was being thrown. The daughter then explained that right as we were turning off our flashlights she saw what looked like a dark figure standing along the wall on the far end of the room. I began by telling the entity that I was back and brought a gift for him as a way to show that I was sincere about helping him. I then asked him if he believed me now and if he was willing to thank me. The daughter said that he was focusing on the drawer and responded, “Why? It is mine.” She then asked him if the drawer and dresser reminds him of happier times. I followed up by asking him if he wanted me to take it back. The daughter said he says no. I continued by explaining that the drawer cannot stay there and that I must return it to the rest of the dresser when we leave. Then, I asked him what he would do if the family decided to sell the dresser, or trade the dresser? The daughter said he responded by saying they would not dare because it was his. Kelly responded by asking him why it mattered because wouldn’t he go with the dresser if it was relocated. The daughter then told us that he was no longer answering. Kelly then asked if he was using the dresser as an excuse to stay with the daughter. There was no response.

The three of us suddenly heard someone yelling from the first floor. I left Kelly and the daughter in the room and ran to the first floor to be sure everything was OK.

Although I left, Kelly and the daughter continued to ask questions. Kelly asked the entity if he was annoyed with the questions she was asking and if so why. The daughter said he responded by saying women should not ask what she is asking. Kelly told him that it is a different time period compared to what he is used to and she was asking the questions because she does not like to hear that a family is scared to live in their home because of the same things he is causing so she wants to help. She then asked if she was irritating him, and the daughter responded that he said, “Yes.” Kelly then explained that she was not sorry and he needs to understand how serious what he is causing is. She then added that he needs to move an object or get close to one of the devices to let her know he understands because she cannot hear him like the daughter can. Suddenly, the daughter thinks she hears a light knocking. She asked if that was him if he could do the same thing again. Then, she shouted, “Doug told you to stop hurting me. Stop that!”

Minutes go by and no other responses or activity occurs. Therefore, Kelly and the client's daughter decide to return to base but leave the devices, dresser drawer, and digital audio recorder in the room in view of the night vision camera.

For the final sweep of the investigation, I decided to stay at base and Tim, Kelly, and the client's daughter returned to the second floor. This time, they entered into the client’s bedroom where no one has investigated the entire night. The daughter and Kelly positioned themselves on the bed and Tim had a seat on the floor near the door to the bathroom attached to the room. Kelly begins by asking if he was there in the bedroom with them. The daughter responded that he was there but was watching. They attempt a final time to ask for his name but again there was no response. A few minutes go by and they continue asking questions when Kelly hears a sound coming from the bathroom. When Tim went to check, they found that one of the family member’s dogs were inside causing the noise. The daughter grabs her pet dog and positions her on the bed with her. Tim continued by reminding the spirit that they were there to help the family and him and that they would be leaving soon. Kelly followed up by requesting him to get near the REM Pod to let them know he was there. The daughter then told them that he was still there but did not seem as angry as he has been throughout the night. Kelly then mentioned that perhaps he was losing energy as it could be draining for him, the client, and her daughter because of the continuous contact throughout the night. Kelly then added by telling him that we have not been trying to make him mad by being there, and that he has to understand that he needs to have boundaries and is scaring the family. She then asked if he understood what she was saying and hopes that he does so the family can live in peace. There was no response.

The client's daughter then brought up a great point and asked the entity is the reason he stopped responding was because CJ, the dog, was there. She then explained that when the family’s other dog, Koda, is in her room, the spirit seems to not bother her. She also explained that CJ was actually her Grandmother’s dog and came with the furniture. She then asked if he remembers CJ. There was no response.

At that point, I joined them in the bedroom to find out how things were going. Kelly, Tim, and the client's daughter explained to me that he was there but no longer answering which could possibly be caused by him being drained. I then explain to the entity that we were about to leave and for him to use as much energy as possible to give one final sign that he was present. I even attempted the “Shave-and-A-Haircut” knocking game and nothing occurred. I finished things by thanking him for his responses throughout the night regardless if he was angry with us or not. I also added that I was going to review the evidence, determine how to help him, and do everything in my power to do so. We waited a final 2 minutes and received no responses.

After spending several hours investigating, receiving possibly responses through the client and her daughter, and having some minor experiences, Tim, Kelly, and I packed up the equipment and left the family in hopes that the spirit would, for once, let them live in peace until I can return with answers.

• While Kelly, Tim, and the client's daughter were investigating the master bedroom, her daughter asks the spirit why he "won't talk to her anymore." Immediately after she says that, she hears an unexplained noise coming from the bathroom attached to the bedroom.

• Minutes after the first sound was heard, another noise was heard coming from the bathroom. This time, it was much louder and was heard by the client's daughter and Kelly.
